Transition is the last phase of the RUP lifecycle model. People differ about when the Transition phase begins, but there is little disagreement about when Transition ends. Small projects need only a simple, and preferably a short, Transition phase. The Transition phase for complex projects can require great expenditures of resources over a long time. For example, a complex project might involve installing software and hardware simultaneously at many sites, requiring careful planning, execution, and follow-up. This chapter describes the simple Transition phase our project went through. Even for a small and simple project, the Transition phase doesn't just happen. We had to plan, prepare, and execute the plan to deliver the software to our customers. |
