Containers that Can House ActiveX Controls
The standard compound document interface required for an in-place embedding container has the attributes necessary for a control container. In addition to the container attributes inherent in this type of container, the container must also provide two additional items: events and ambient properties.
An ActiveX control actually serves as a converter when dealing with events. As such, a control must convert events from the user into events that are meaningful to the container. For each event so converted, the container must supply an entry point in order to respond to the event.
Ambient properties refers to container properties that typically apply to all controls in the container. These include default colors and fonts.
