Process large image files faster with a DOD (Domain of Definition)

Keying and generating mattes is one of the most important aspects of compositing. The process of keying involves extracting an object from an image and combining it with a different background. Most keyers use the difference in color between the color channels of an image to extract the matte. Normally, this technique depends on the foreground subject being photographed in front of a uniformly colored background, such as a blue or green screen. Shake includes the Primatte and Keylight keyers, with the Ultimatte keyer available as an optional plug-in.

In this lesson you will use Primatte to key this image.
