In this chapter, you examined two methods of authenticating users. In the first part, you learned how to configure Forms authentication and require users to log in before they can access particular directories. You also learned how to use Forms authentication with the Web.Config file, an XML file, and a database table.

Next, you learned how to take advantage of Microsoft Passport authentication. You learned how to create sign-in and sign out buttons and retrieve profile information from authenticated Passport users.
