Customize the Chat Background

You can customize the background of any chat window by adding a picture or graphic. This could be useful if you've got several chats going on and don't want to get confused about who is in which window. Mostly, it's just fun.

This image will appear only on your computerthe person you are chatting with will not see it. As soon as you close this chat window, that background disappears and does not automatically re-appear anywhere.

To customize a chat window

1.	Click anywhere in a chat window to select that window.
2.	From the View menu, choose "Set Chat Background…."
3.	In the dialog box that appears, select an image file that's on your computer, then click "Open." Or simply drag any image file from your Desktop and drop it directly into an empty space in the chat window.

Small images will "tile" (repeat over and over) to fill the window space. Large images will display full-sized, cropping off the image where necessary.

Simple or subdued background images are best for readability.

To remove a background, click once in the chat window, then go to the View menu and choose "Clear Background."
