2.5 Network Attached Storage

Another step in the development of storage solutions was (and is) Network Attached Storage (NAS). Network Attached Storage overcomes the limitations of attaching storage directly to the server. Devices are attached to the local area network to be used by systems on the LAN.

NAS is available to any server on the network. By extension, data is available to any user , subject to security.
