Although security in the wired world is becoming standardized and advanced, privacy is still a hot topic and up for much consideration and change. The current progress is being made by privacy and technology industry groups alike. Research on privacy tools, Internet filters, privacy requirements, and privacy legislation will be ongoing. Exploitations of consumer information will rear their ugly heads if corporations do not espouse and enforce strict, clear, feasible privacy policies. The wireless world has a chance to jump ahead and learn from the mistakes of its wired counterparts. Privacy should be built in from the start, intertwined with security, and given due attention.
