Figure 10-2: Editing user-defined functions

When you right-click a function and choose Modify from the context menu, SQL Server displays a form for editing its properties, parameters, and code. This editor is identical to the editor you use to edit stored procedures. When you right-click the Functions node, you can select New | User Table-valued Function or New | Scalar-valued Function, or SQL Server opens a form with a template for creating a new function. Once you have written or changed the function, you can simply save the function and Management Studio will deploy it on the server.
