Where are We?

In this chapter, we rounded out our exploration of the WF programming model by discussing conditions and rules, making changes to running WF program instances, tracking, activity designers, and designer hosting.

This brings us to the end of our journey. We began this book by putting the concepts of bookmarking and continuations under a microscope, and then using these abstractions to build a resumable program statement. The WF programming model is built around this idea, which has its essence captured in the Activity, CompositeActivity, and AEC types. We have explored in great detail how activity types and WF programs are authored, and how they are executed. Finally, we have surveyed the WF programming model by highlighting useful abstractions that will let you build activity types, WF programs, and applications quickly and effectively.

We hope that you can gainfully apply the ideas explored hereinas well as the Windows Workflow Foundation technologyin your software engineering endeavors.
