The CWIN, a group of organizations, including the NIPC, the CIAO, and others that have some responsibility for the security of federal systems, is the core of the cyberwarning network. However, there are many other mechanisms that contribute to the warning system, including the following:
The cybersecurity organizations of other national governments
The customer-support mechanisms of technology producers
The customer-support mechanisms of technology service providers
Professional IS security organizations
Computer security professionals interviewed for this book recommend that organizations not rely upon a single source for warnings and alerts. As previously mentioned, organizations need to evaluate how they will assimilate and act on warnings of malicious cyberbehavior.
