If you want to be a true power user and switch from tool to tool in Flash without bothering with the mouse and Toolbar, then you'll want to make note of some of the most important key shortcuts. Okay, so important may be the wrong word, but certainly the most used. They are V, Arrow (Move/Select); T, Text Tool; Q, Free Transform; and Z, Magnifying Glass (Zoom).
Of course, there are many others as well, but you can discover any tool's key shortcut by rolling over it and waiting for a second. Flash will display the key command for you to add to your list. Who knows, if you get good enough, you may not even need to have the Toolbar there at all. Oh yeah, and if the tool has more than one option like the Rectangle, you can cycle through them by pressing the key over and over.
