Acknowledgments

There are so many people who have made this book possible; however, three extraordinary women come to mind that have truly helped craft this title as it reads today.

First and foremost on any list of extraordinary women is my wife, Jeanne, whose patience with the long nights in the laboratory, delayed meals, and lost time together during our first year of marriage made this writing experience possible. Without your continuous support and encouragement throughout this project, this book and all the other endeavors in my life could never be possible.

I would also like to express my utmost gratitude to Karen Wachs for her patience and professionalism throughout the duration of this project. When questions arose, you were always there to make the decision, address my concerns, and encourage me to keep progressing. Your expertise in the publishing, technical, and project management arenas was absolutely essential to the successful completion of this title. You are truly an outstanding person, and it was an honor for me to work with a professional of such high caliber on this project.

Capping this list of these extraordinary women is Shannon Leuma, who is perhaps one of the best development editors one could have the privilege of working with. The time you spent coordinating with the technical reviewers helped me organize the text into a more cohesive and readable body of work. Your unmatched attention to detail and your seemingly infinite supply of constructive comments helped transform this text into a work that the entire project team could be proud of.

To my technical reviewers and fellow coworkers at the bank, Brendan McTague and Dave Gore, I would like to thank you for your help both in and out of the office. Your feedback and frank criticism of each chapter provided invaluable insight to enhance the quality of this text. In particular, I would like to express my gratitude to Brendan for his role in bringing this title to fruition. His introduction to Al Valvano and Jen Garrett began my relationship with New Riders.

Additionally, I would like to thank the other outstanding professionals at New Riders with whom I came into contact during the course of this project, including Gina Brown, Alissa Cayton, and Kristy Knoop for coordinating the efforts to edit and compose the final text.

To all the other people at New Riders who contributed their time to this book, who have the often-thankless job of working behind the scenes to produce the titles we rely on as professionals, I would also like to extend my expressions of gratitude.

Finally, I would like to thank Richard Ault at Microsoft for helping me get through some of the more complex elements of programmatic administration early in my experience with ADSI and the product's lifecycle. It truly was an honor to have someone of your caliber take the time to review my text in its entirety before going to press. Your experience with ADS, and detailed comments throughout each chapter truly helped assure that the text was both technically accurate and comprehensive enough to be valuable to even the most advanced readers.
