APPLICATION ICON MADNESS

Annoyance Factor 9: Imagine if you clicked on an application and instead of launching the application, it just opened an empty Finder window. This would get mighty frustrating, wouldn't it? This type of thing would basically bring a person's work to a halt, wouldn't it? Sound good? Here's what to do:

Step ONE.

Press Command-Shift-N to create a new blank folder on the desktop and name it "Gotcha!"

Step TWO.

Go to their Applications folder, open a folder for one of their major applications (something like Photoshop), and click on the Adobe Photoshop CS2 application icon. Press Command-I, and when the Info dialog opens, click on the icon in the top left-hand corner and press Command-C to copy the Photoshop application icon.

Step THREE.

Now drag just the Adobe Photoshop CS2 application icon into your Gotcha! folder.

Step FOUR.

Go back to their Applications folder and open their Photoshop folder. Press Command-Shift-N to create a new blank folder within the Photoshop application folder.

Step FIVE.

Click on the new folder and press Command-I. When the Info dialog opens, click on the folder icon and press Command-V to paste the Photoshop application icon onto this blank folder. Rename this folder "Adobe Photoshop CS2."

Step SIX.

Then, go to the Dock and remove the Photoshop icon (if it's there). Repeat this process for the rest of their major apps, and every time they launch an app, all they'll get is an empty Finder window. Once they're in tears, you can lead them to the Gotcha! folderfor a small fee.
