SAVING MUCHO DRIVE SPACE

You know those Apple applications like iCal, Mail, TextEdit, etc. Although you're seeing them in English, each one comes with a foreign language version already installed. That's pretty handy, unless you only read English, in which case those extra languages are just taking up space. A lot of space. Luckily, getting rid of those extra languages is easyjust go to your Applications folder, click an application's icon, then press Command-I to bring up the Info dialog. You'll see a panel for Languages, so click on the little right-facing arrow to show all the languages installed for that application. Click on any language, and then press Command-A to select all languages except English (you'll notice that English is grayed out and cannot be removed if that's your currently selected language). Now just click the Remove button and those extra languages will be moved to the Trash. For example, in Mail it trashed more than 4,000 files from my hard disk, which I clearly didn't need. Not bad for 15 seconds of work. (Note: You'll get a scary warning dialog asking if you're sure you want do this, so just be sure and click Continue.)
