Working with effects can become quite a daunting task. Experiment, explore, and render effects so you'll become familiar with their different parameters and attributes. This chapter certainly covered a lot of material in relation to effects, but in reality it only skimmed the surface. Look for some more effect tips and shortcuts in Chapter 16, "Power Editing Tips".
Avid Xpress allows you to edit on 24 layers of video.
A basic two-layer effect is the superimpose.
The Picture-in-Picture effect defaults to 50%.
If you recorded material from analog format, you'll need to remove the blanking around the frame.
The PIP, Resize, and 3D PIP effects can have advanced keyframes.
Advanced keyframes have their own graphs, which allows you to have more control over how frames relate to each other.
The 3D PIP effect can rotate an image in true 3D space.
Color effects create more of an effect as opposed to correcting color .
Using the Color Correction tool, you can set the black and white points of an image.
Avid Xpress Pro allows you to pan and zoom in/out of a still image larger than the native frame size.
Clips can be slowed down, sped up, or reversed with a motion effect.
Avid Xpress can create freeze frames.
The Expert Render tool only renders what needs to be rendered.
