DataExpress is a set of Java classes from Borland’s JBuilder. With DataExpress, you get design time configuration of data access components, design time data views, direct binding to data-aware swing controls, a sophisticated SQL query builder, and much more.
One of the most important features of DataExpress is that it works with any JDBC driver, and the Advantage JDBC Driver is no exception. As a result, if you are a JBuilder developer, you can enjoy the benefits and ease of development afforded by DataExpress with your existing data.
A detailed discussion of DataExpress is well beyond the scope of this book. All you really need to know is that when you place a Database component into your project, you use its Connection property editor to reference the Advantage JDBC Driver, as shown in Figure 13-3. From that point forward, you build your DataExpress application as you would using any other JDBC driver.
