Copying a Layer between Images


When a layer has content that you'd like to reuse, you can make a copy of the layer and paste it into another image file.

  1. Open or create the image file to which you want to copy the layer. The image window appears in Photoshop.

  2. Open the image file that has the layer to copy. The image window appears in Photoshop.

  3. Click on Window . The window menu will appear.

  4. Hold the mouse pointer over Arrange . A submenu will appear.

  5. Click on Tile . The two open files will be tiled.

  6. Drag the layer from the Layers palette. The layer will appear selected, and the mouse pointer will change to a clenched hand.

  7. Drop the layer on the window for the file into which you want to copy the layer. The new layer appears immediately in the destination image.
