Once you have created your Visual Basic .NET application and deployed it to your users, you will need to monitor its operation and make adjustments to improve performance. In this chapter, we examine some of the methods that can be used to fulfill this requirement, including the management of Windows processes and Event Logs as well as the monitoring of performance data for running processes. Using these tools, you may also allow an application to alter its behavior based on available system resources within a dynamic setting.
