A generic term that refers to the specialized combination of keywords and punctuation used in a markup language such as HyperText Markup Language (HTML) or eXtensible Markup Language (XML). In many cases, the tag appears as a tag pair. For example, <H1>My Header</H1> contains a tag pair, <H1>, and associated text. The <H1> tag designates a level 1 header.

Transaction Identifier
A number or other indicator used to identify a data exchange between client and server. The transaction identifier serves to maintain the link between individual transactions.
Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
A standard communication line protocol (set of rules) developed by the U.S. Department of Defense. The protocol defines how two devices talk to each other. TCP defines a communication methodology where it guarantees packet delivery and also ensures the packets appear at the recipient in the same order they were sent. IP defines the packet characteristics.
