Gather Business Event Knowledge (Process Notes 2.3.1)


This activity is concerned with taking stock of all the work knowledge that exists for each business event. Use the event boundaries as a guide for gathering all the work knowledge and the sources of that knowledge. The results of this activity are the starting point for learning the detailed work.

For each business event, look for any business documents that might contain knowledge about the work related to the event. Look for reports, forms, specifications, user manuals, organization charts, feasibility studies, product documentation, marketing blurbsany document that might contain requirements buried in its depths.

List the names of sources of the work knowledge:

  • People within the boundaries of the work context

  • Adjacent systems

  • People outside the boundaries of the work context

  • The name of a group of people who might have knowledge of this event

Are there any domain models that contain knowledge about this event? Are there any reusable requirements that contain knowledge about this event?
