This chapter provided numerous examples of IS-IS configuration tasks that are indicative of those you may encounter while taking your JNCIP lab examination. You should now feel comfortable with the commands needed to add the iso family to your router interfaces, and with the aspects of IS-IS routing instance configuration needed to support either level 1, level 2, or a level 1/level 2 configuration. IS-IS authentication options were also demonstrated, as was the use of protocol tracing to diagnose operational problems caused by incorrect or incompatible configurations.
The use of JUNOS software policy to effect IS-IS route leaking, summarization, and route redistribution were demonstrated, along with the operational commands that can be used to determine the status of your IS-IS IGP. The following case study reviews critical IS-IS configuration tasks in a configuration scenario designed to simulate the JNCIP testing environment.
