SummaryTiger provides many tools and logs to help you diagnose, correct, and prevent system problems. Third-party support has done a great job of filling in the holes left by Apple. This chapter demonstrated the use of Single-User and Verbose boot modes, introduced tools for backing up your system, and identified products that go beyond the capabilities of Disk Utility. Eventually, Mac OS X will probably mature into a system that can be documented entirely without ever seeing a command line (unless you want to!). For now, we hope that this book provides a balanced view of what you can do through the GUI and via the command line. Best of luck!
