Chapter2.Falling Squares

Chapter 2. Falling Squares

After Effects provides some great prebuilt effects for creating scene transitions, but there's only so much you can do with them (or anything prebuilt!) when you want to make something unique. This chapter shows you how to design a lively transition that's simply made of animated solids. The transition features solids radiating outward toward the viewer and then collapsing inward to reveal a layout that's falling into place.

In the previous chapter, you worked almost exclusively with 2D solids to create cool and interesting effects. You'll use those same techniques in this chapter but add a bit of 3D and some dynamic animations to the brew. And since this project relies on solids for its transitions and layout, you can easily transform the solids even further or swap out the solids for your own content to make the project your own.
