In this chapter, you will learn how to:
Load historical data
Use global variable and initialization file settings to load monthly data
Perform error checking, correct errors, and load corrected data
Create configurations to modify the execution of the data movement application
In this final chapter, you will operate the prototype of a data movement application to demonstrate its functionality and flexibility. You will begin by deleting the test data from the dimension, fact, staging, and auditing tables in the SBS_OLAP database and deleting all logs relating to the test data. You will then load the appropriate time records and historical data for calendar years 1996 and 1997 into the SBS_OLAP database and process that data into the Sales cube. Once the historical data is loaded, you will begin adding monthly sales data to the SBS_OLAP database and the Sales cube to exercise the capabilities of the data movement application. You will use the capabilities of the data movement application to load data from a non-default location, bypass tasks and packages for particular purposes based on configurations of global variables , verify and correct data load errors, and reload data that generated errors when it was originally loaded.
