The Future of PSP Tools

What is next for the PSP Tools software? There are several possible answers to this question.

  • The answer we like the least is that nothing is next. This is it. This alternative happens if our team decides to disband rather than work towards PSP Tools version 2. It could also happen if none of the book's readers download the software and offer ideas for improvement.

  • Our team decides to produce version 2. We look at the known requests for enhancements, review user feedback, and build a better, more flexible product. We have talked about undertaking this project, but haven't committed to it yet.

  • Readers of the book take the PSP Tools software and improve on it. If you are such a reader, we would like to know what you've done, and ask that you share your changes with us. More information is on the book's Web site.

  • PSP Tools could be used as a starting point for projects in academic settings. At the time of this writing, Gary was about to start a new job in a teaching position as Professor of Practice at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and planned for some of his students to work on the project.

  • We build a community of PSP aficionados who want to work on PSP Tools as an open source project. We encourage you to join this effort. If you are interested in this option, we provide information on the book's Web site about how we can get started.
