Configuring IEV Application Settings and Preferences

[ LiB ]

Application settings allow you to define the following:

  • Assign the file path of the browser that is used to view the NSDB data.

  • Assign the file path of the Ethereal software that is used to view IP log files.

  • Assign the file path of the NSDB HTML data.

  • Enable or disable the autorefresh feature.

To define the application settings and preferences, choose Application Settings from the Edit menu to open the Application Settings window, as shown in Figure 13.7.

PreferencesRefresh Cycle

The event views in IEV are refreshed according to the parameters that you define in the Refresh Cycle preferences tab sheet, shown in Figure 13.8. Access this sheet by navigating to Preferences from the Edit menu.

As you can see, you can configure the refresh cycle to update the view according to the following options:

  • Every n minutes

  • Every n hours

  • Every day at a specific time

  • Stop Auto Refresh

Select your refresh interval, which affects the tabular views, Realtime Dashboard, and Realtime Graph, and click Apply to save the refresh cycle parameter settings. Choosing the stop Auto Refresh option cancels the dynamic refreshes.

PreferencesData Archival

In the Data Archival Setup tab of the Preferences screen, you can assign parameters to determine the following:

  • Events to be archived

  • The time that events are archived

  • The maximum number of events in the realtime database

  • The maximum number of archived files

  • The maximum number of compressed archived files

Figure 13.9 shows the Data Archival Setup window where you can define these parameters.

To define the Data Archival Setup parameters, select the status of events that you want archived using the check boxes at the top of the window. Then, click the Enable Time Schedule for Archiving Events check box, and define the schedule using the radio buttons and drop-down menus listed below it. At the bottom of the Data Archival Setup tab sheet, use the text boxes (observing the allowed ranges) to specify the maximum number of events in the event_realtime_table, archived files, and compressed archive files. Click Apply to save the data archival parameter settings.
