Summary

This chapter discussed methods to analyze metadata information about database objects. Several interfaces were provided to get database properties such as what it supports, what are its limitations, what objects it contains, and so on. Other methods enable you to discover and handle ResultSets and parameters at runtime. This chapter also discussed a technique for accessing data in a dynamic way: the so-called dynamically typed data access.

The next chapter discusses the use of JDBC in the context of Enterprise JavaBeans.
