Using Text as a Mask

 < Day Day Up >

Using text as a mask creates an interesting effect. You don't need it for this page, but you might want to experiment with the technique to see how it works.

1.

Open the candy_corn_large.png file in the Media folder in the Lesson10 folder.

This is a larger version of the image you used for October in your disjointed rollover on the home page.

2.

Select the Text tool and type CANDY. Change the font to Arial Black, change the color to white, and make the size large enough to fit over the candy image.

3.

Select the text and choose Edit > Cut. Select the candy corn image and then choose Edit > Paste as Mask.

The candy corn image is placed within the outlines of the text.
