Mastering the Inner Game

When we took our first technical tests, the class instructor passed on some great wisdom that we, in turn , tell students each time they are about to test. He said, "Be the windshield , not the bug." Despite the disturbing mental imagery, the message always rings true. Namely, take the test with the utmost confidence that you can pass it.

In the test room, the majority of problems arise when we start doubting ourselves . If we start to question our knowledge of the material, the outcome that we fear the most becomes inevitable. To avoid this self-fulfilling prophecy , trust the knowledge you have about the subject and do not let a couple of unknown questions seal your fate. If you take a couple of deep breaths and realize that the world is not crashing down around you, you have a fighting chance to maintain your mindset and be successful.

To build up your confidence, we recommend reading this book thoroughly. At the end of each chapter, answer the supplied exam prep questions. If you do not get them correct or you do not feel strong enough in the subject matter covered, use the references in the "Need to Know More?" section at the end of the chapter to solidify the subject. Once you complete all the chapters, test your knowledge in the Practice Exams (in Chapters 12 “15) and review any areas where you are performing insufficiently. With enough preparation and determination, you will be able to pass this exam and further your status in your Cisco career. Good luck!
