Werner Auer-Rizzi worked as a systems analyst in various European countries and the United States before joining the Institute for International Management Studies at the Johannes Kepler University, Linz in 1988. His research interests are decision making, trust, and cultural aspects of management.

Susanne Blazejewski gained her PhD at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder), Germany. She currently works as an assistant professor at the Chair for Strategic Management and Organizational Behaviour, European University Viadrina. Her current research interests are organizational change in Central and Eastern Europe and organizational cultures in global corporations.

Josef C. Brada gained his PhD at the University of Minnesota. He is currently Professor of Economics and Director of the College of Business, International Programs, at Arizona State University. His research interests include firm behaviour and corporate governance in transition economies and European Union accession .

Andrzej Byrt gained his PhD at the Pozna Academy of Economics, where he is currently a visiting professor. He has served as Deputy Minister for Foreign Economic Relations, chief negotiator of Poland s accession to CEFTA, the WTO and the OECD, Ambassador to Germany and advisor to the President. At present he is serving as Poland s Deputy Foreign Minister.

Frank Claassen is Project Manager Consumer Systems at the Beiersdorf headquarters in Hamburg, Germany, and in 2002 became, in addition, manager controlling the business unit, consumer products Germany, of the Beiersdorf AG. He was previously Director of Finance, Controlling and Human Resources at and a member of the board of management of Beiersdorf-Lechia SA in Poznan, Poland, from 1998 to 2001.

Tomasz Domaski is Associate Professor of Marketing and Distribution at the University of ³d, Poland, and Director of the Research Centre for French Studies in the Faculty of International and Political Studies at the same university. He is a member of the French Marketing Association, the author of more than 80 articles and research papers on distribution in Poland and a marketing consultant for various Polish and international distribution companies.

Wolfgang Dorow holds the Chair for Strategic Management and Organizational Behaviour, European University Viadrina, Germany. His main interest is organizational politics. He is currently working on organizational change in transition economies, acculturation processes in global corporations, and human resource management in Japan.

Jutta Emes gained her PhD at the Julius-Maximilians University, W ¼rzburg, in 1998. Since 1999 she has worked as an Assistant Professor of Marketing, focusing on research on entrepreneurship and e-commerce.

Hartmut H. Holzm ¼ller has taught and conducted research at Wirtschaftsuniversit t Wien, City University of New York, University of South Carolina, Universit t Hohenheim, Boise State University, Idaho, and IECS Strasbourg. Since 1998 he has held the Chair of Marketing at Dortmund University. His main research interests are cross-cultural marketing, psychometric marketing and consumer behaviour.

Camilla Jensen gained her PhD at the University of Southern Denmark. She is Assistant Professor at Copenhagen Business School, Center for East European Studies. She has researched the impact of foreign direct investment in manufacturing and service industries in Poland and other transition countries.

Jan Jez ·ak is Professor of Strategic Management at the Department of Business Management, University of ³d, Poland. His research interests include strategic management and corporate governance in transition economies. Between 1995 and 1999 he was Chairman of the supervisory board, NIF One, Warsaw.

Reinhard Klein is a member of the board of directors of the TWG, a German “Polish organization for business promotion located in Gorzow, Poland. The TWG was founded in 1994 by the German and Polish governments and since then more than 8800 companies on both sides of the border have benefited from the organization s services and up-to-date information on both markets.

Krzysztof Konecki is an Associate Professor of Sociology and head of the Department of Organization and Management Sociology, University of ³d, Poland. He is also a lecturer in Human Resource Management and Organizational Sociology at the Leon Kozminski Academy of Entrepreneurship and Management in Warsaw. His research interests include organizational culture and human resource management, the organizational identity and culture of Polish enterprises, the management of Japanese enterprises and the sociology of work.

Witold Ma‚achowski is currently a member of the board of management of Volkswagen s Polish subsidiary in Poznan. He has been a Professor at the Management School in Warsaw, Director of the Institute for International Relations and head of the Centre for Polish “German Economic Relations. He has held visiting professorships at universities in Germany, Austria, Bulgaria and Russia.

Roderick Martin is Professor of Organizational Behaviour and Director of the School of Management, University of Southampton. He previously taught in Glasgow, London (Imperial College) and Oxford (Trinity and Templeton Colleges). His current research interests are IT and organization, especially the employment aspects of this, and management in Central and Eastern Europe.

Klaus E. Meyer earned his PhD at the London Business School. He is a Research Professor at The Centre for East European Studies, Copenhagen Business School. His research focuses on the strategies of foreign investors and local firms in Eastern Europe and other emerging economies.

Krzysztof Ob‚ ³j is Professor of Strategic Management at the University of Warsaw and the Leon Kozminski Academy of Management and Entrepreneurship in Warsaw. He has held visiting professorships in the United States, France, Slovenia and Norway. His research interests include management in Poland, organizational transformation, change management and human resource management.

Thomas Otte is a Lecturer in Management at the European University Viadrina, Frankfurt (Oder). His current research interests include strategic management and decision making, human resource management and industrial relations in the CEE region, and cross-cultural management.

Gerhard Reber founded the Organizational Behaviour Institute at the Johannes Kepler University, Linz, in 1973. He has also held several visiting professorships in Europe and North America. His main research interests are leadership and cultural diversity.

Stefan Schmid gained his PhD at the Catholic University of Eichst tt-Ingolstadt, Germany. He is currently Professor of International Management and Strategic Management at the European School of Management (EAP), Berlin. His research interests are international and intercultural management, strategic management and organization theory.

Arnold Schuh is Assistant Professor and Lecturer at the Department of Marketing, WU-Wien. He is also Adjunct Associate Professor of International Business Studies at the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota, and has held visiting professorships at the University of Kentucky and the University of South Carolina. His primary research interests are global and European marketing and strategic marketing management.

Heinz-J ¼rgen St ¼ting is General Manager of Beiersdorf-Lechia SA, Poznan, Poland. In 1996 he was involved in the acquisition of Beiersdorf s Polish subsidiary, after which he directed the change management process at the subsidiary and developed Nivea into the leading cosmetic brand in Poland.
