Installing the Microsoft .NET Framework

To follow along with the examples in this book, you'll need to install the Microsoft .NET Framework, or find a hosting company supporting .NET (Eraserver offers limited hosting for free at http://www.eraserver.net).

To download the Microsoft .NET Framework, navigate to http://msdn.microsoft.com/net. After downloading and running the executable install file, you still have a few additional steps to install the QuickStart tutorials.

After the SDK has completed installing, go to the Samples and QuickStart Tutorials entry in the Microsoft .NET Framework SDK program group , and follow the onscreen instructions. You will have to click one link to install the samples and another link to configure them.
