In this chapter, you've learned how to use Query Analyzer to determine the execution plan and data access methods that are best for your query. In addition, you've learned how to use Profiler to view the T-SQL statements that are active in your system and how to run traces to determine whether some of these T-SQL statements might be causing performance problems. And you've discovered how to optimize the execution plan and data access methods based on your database and your data. Finally you've learned how to use hints to specify a particular execution plan or data access method to be used. In Chapter 36, this theme will be developed further; you'll learn about performance problems and how to solve them.
