Keeping track of who reports to whom and what responsibilities each employee has can be difficult, especially in a growing company. Organization charts provide a graphical view of those relationships, and the Organization Chart template and wizard in Visio make it easy to keep the chart up to date. To get the most use out of your chart, you can also store data about each employee, such as the date of hire, e-mail address, or responsibilities. You can print reports, display the information on the organization chart itself, and even export it to a spreadsheet or database file for use by other departments.

The way you work with organization charts in Visio is different from other similar-looking diagrams, such as flowcharts. This chapter tells you what you need to create and import organization charts efficiently and successfully.
