Avid Xpress Pro has a ton of great audio tools and capabilities. I've worked with some facilities that like Avid's audio features so much, they edit a lot of their radio work on it. By far this has been the most extensive chapter so far; in reality one could write a book simply covering Avid Xpress Pro's audio features only. Let's review.
To listen to an audio track, make sure the speaker icon is present.
To "scrub" an audio track, turn on the Caps Lock key on your keyboard.
You can solo tracks of audio and video.
The Audio Mix tool is used for adjusting audio levels and pan values on entire clips and tracks.
Adding keyframes to audio tracks allows you to mix or "ride" audio levels.
The Automation Gain tool tracks and adds keyframes in real time as you play through a sequence.
After adding keyframes, you can (and should) filter out the ones you don't need.
The Audio EQ tool allows you to adjust the tonal characteristics of an audio track.
The Audio tool is used to monitor audio levels.
Audio Punch-In is handy for creating quick voiceovers .
AudioSuite plug-ins are available if you need to add an effect or filter to an audio track.
The Audio Mixdown tool allows you to edit with more than eight tracks of audio.
