About the Author


Mynul Hoda, CCIE No. 9159 for both Routing and Switching and Security, CISSP, is one of the lead engineers in High Touch Technical Support (HTTS) based in San Jose, California, where he has been working as a senior Security/VPN support engineer for the last two years. In his current role, he is involved in troubleshooting Security/VPN issues in some of the biggest and most critical networks in the industry around the world. Before joining HTTS, Mynul was a senior support engineer in Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) bases in San Jose, CA, for three years. Mynul routinely provides escalation support to his immediate team and other security support teams within Cisco, provides training and boot camps, and answers customer questions on the Networking Professionals Connection e-community. Along with this, he writes and reviews Cisco.com docs, constantly maintains, updates, and presents training materials for Security/VPN Boot Camp for internal CA organization and the Premium Partner. His areas of expertise are configuring and troubleshooting all forms of Security/VPN technologies such as AAA, IPS, Firewall, and VPN. Mynul holds a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of South Alabama, and a master's in Computer Science from the University of Alabama. Before joining Cisco Systems, Mynul worked as an Internet consultant at American Computer Consultants, where he was responsible for designing and implementing the E-Commerce site architecture, and network security architecture. Among other exciting things, he is also currently reviewing and understanding the source code for Firewall and AAA technologies, which is giving him an edge in understanding the security technologies in depth and providing the very best customer support. Mynul has eight years of experience altogether in the IT industry, including five years exclusively in Cisco Network Security Troubleshooting.

Mynul is living happily in San Jose, CA, with his wife, Rashida, and 20-month-old baby boy, Rayaadh.

About the Technical Reviewers

Qiang Huang, CCIE No. 4937 (ISP Dial, Routing and Switching, and Security), CISSP, is a technical marketing engineer in the Cisco Systems Security Technology Group. He currently focuses on competitive analysis of various vendors in the network security market. Before that, Qiang worked in the security consulting group, conducting security posture assessment, security design review, and technical support operation as the technical lead in the VPN and network security group. Qiang has extensive experience with many security products and technologies, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection and prevention, and identity management. Qiang received his master's degree in electrical engineering from Colorado State University.

Nadeem Khawaja, CCIE No. 9069, has worked as a Customer Support Engineer in the Security Solutions team within the Cisco System TAC since early 2001. At Cisco, Nadeem supports the PIX Firewall, Intrusion Detection Systems, Router-based IOS Firewalls, and Cisco Secure Access Control Servers. Nadeem has more than nine years of experience in the computer networking field and is currently pursuing a master's degree in computer science at San Jose University. In addition to his Routing and Switching CCIE, Nadeem also has the CCIE Security certification and holds the CCNP and CCDP certifications.

Jonathan Limbo, CCIE No. 10508 (Security) is currently an IPS Signature developer for the Asia Pacific region. He currently focuses on vulnerabilities, evolving attack vectors, and exploits. Previous roles include working on the APAC Security team for Technical Support Services specializing in DDoS Attack mitigation, and various technical network and system administrator roles. Jonathan has been in the security space for six years and has extensive experience within security, including security policies, security tools, and Cisco Secure technologies, including authentication and authorization access control, perimeter defense, encryption, and self-defending network strategies. Jonathan is a CISSP and is certified in ethical hacking (CEH).
