The concept of Operational Data Store in SAP BW is new in the ERP industry. In the SAP world, the role of ODS will be significant to support other New Dimension products. This chapter defined an Operational Data Store and how SAP has implemented this concept in SAP BW 2.0A. SAP BW 2.0B will have a few more enhancements; for example, the enhanced InfoSet Query and improved ODS data access performance. You also learned in this chapter how ODS tables are defined in SAP BW 2.0A and accessed directly as well as how to implement InfoCube to ODS drill-down scheme.
