Summary

Apache is a complex piece of software that provides a number of mechanisms for controlling access to its resources. Unfortunately, the Web is not a safe place, and any information served from your default Mac OS X Web server is still capable of being intercepted by third parties. To overcome this, one must use SSL encryption and the Apache mod_ssl module.

This chapter introduced you to the Apache authentication directives Limit , Satisfy , and Option , as well as the steps necessary to create a mod_ssl secured server either from scratch, or using Apple's included software.
