Chapter 24. Developing Web ApplicationsIN THIS CHAPTER
A web server is only as good as its content. Creating a website that changes over time is an important step in keeping users interested. The Tiger BSD base provides access to many different programming and scripting languages, each of which can be used for creating dynamic web applications that run from within Apache. This chapter serves as a beginner's guide to CGI (Common Gateway Interface) programming and introduces topics ranging from CGI security to Perl and PHP programming. As in many of the Unix chapters in Mac OS X Tiger Unleashed, it is important to remember that the information provided is appropriate for learning about the technology available in the operating system. If you're starting from scratch, you might want to look into additional references on web development. |
