In a sense this is the next chapter of my last book, Confessions of an Internet Auction Junkie , which was published in October 2000. That's when my research began . This was supposed to be a follow-up called Confessions of A Hacker. It was a done deal, as they say in the book biz, until the publishing company changed hands and the deal fell through. The past is history, the future a mystery, and the present is a gift. That's why they call it "the present." I view it this way. If I'd written that book then, I wouldn't have had the opportunity to write Invasion of Privacy now. Much has changed. One dollar invested in the NASDAQ when my research began on this book was worth approximately 19 cents by the time I wrote the first chapter.
