Conclusion

 < Day Day Up >

In this chapter, we have seen how two of the most important Internet protocols, HTTP and LDAP, can work together to provide the user with information contained in a directory without requiring the user to know or understand LDAP. Depending on your particular implementation, the user will likely not even realize that she is contacting an LDAP repository.

In the second part of this chapter, we put together everything we had learned in the first part and saw that these technologies could be combined in an application that can be "extranet enabled" as a B2B application. We learned how to construct, from easy-to-understand and easy-to-maintain components, a robust and a reliable environment for for intranet, Internet, and extranet.
