Open Source office suite project created with the continuing input of Sun Microsystems and based on code Sun contributed to the Open Source community. Its commercial release is in the form of Star Office (although Star Office has several proprietary components added).

Open Source

Method and philosophy of developing software whereby the source code—the original listing created by the programmer—is available for all to see. The term also applies to a community of users. Note that Open Source is not the same as Free Software; describing software as Open Source doesn’t imply that the code can be shared or used by others (although this is often the case).
