Outsourcing

Nowadays, it is unlikely to have all of an application's developers physically situated at one location. If you plan to have developers work remotely either offsite or off-shore, it is mandatory that you integrate the processes explained in this book, especially the concept of the Virtual Build Labs (VBLs) explained in Chapter 2, "Source Tree Configuration for Multiple Sites and Parallel (Multi-Version) Development Work." Experience shows that if your software configuration management is good, outsourcing will be easy or easier to integrate. This is done through securing your overall build process, not through fingerprinting every piece of code that is in your project.
