Deployment Using GUI Web Console

The Geronimo Web console provides a point-and-click interface for deploying modules and plans to a server instance. Under the hood, the console uses the same Geronimo JSR-88 deployment underpinnings to carry out its deployment duties.

To deploy a module or plan to a Geronimo instance using the GUI Web console, you must do the following:

  1. Log in to the Web console of the target Geronimo server.

  2. Click on the Deploy New link under the Applications heading.

  3. Specify either or both modules and the plan to be deployed.

  4. Optionally click the Start upon deploy checkbox; if it is not checked, the deployed module will initially be in the stopped state

Note that there is no need to specify a remote host when deploying through the Web console. This is because the Web console that you contact must be the Web console of the Geronimo server that you want to deploy to. Essentially, the actual deployment performed by the Web console is always on the local Geronimo server instance. In fact, your modules and plans are first uploaded to the server and then deployed locally by the Web console.

Figure B-1 shows the deployment user interface provided by the GUI Web console.
