Chapter 13
In this chapter, you'll be introduced to the basic concepts of Structured Query Language (SQL) and Transact-SQL (T-SQL) and to the differences between the two languages. This chapter explains data definition language (DDL) and data manipulation language (DML) and includes examples of each. We'll also take a look at the new features of T-SQL for Microsoft SQL Server 2000. And you'll learn how to use the various SQL Server utilities—including command-line T-SQL and the SQL Query Analyzer—to create and manage database objects. You'll also learn about creating scripts that contain T-SQL statements.
