Summary

3 4

In this chapter, you've learned the basics of creating a table, including using and defining data types, placing tables in filegroups, using null values, and adding the IDENTITY property. There's still plenty more to learn about other attributes and properties you can add to a table. You can add and delete columns, add constraints and indexes, and alter a table in other ways, even after it has been created. It is best to have your table in its final form before adding any data, but this might not always be possible, or you might find that you need to add an index or a constraint you hadn't thought of before. Chapter 15 demonstrates several ways to alter tables using T-SQL. In the next few chapters, you'll learn about installation and setup of the network and about Microsoft Cluster Server. These chapters will help you get your SQL Server system through its final stages of setup.
