What Can You Do with Outlook's Fields?

Outlook 2003 provides a large number of fields that can be used when creating Outlook forms and VBA solutions. However, this appendix is not only for developers. To best utilize Outlook, you need to understand how Outlook stores information. Outlook is very similar to a database. It has structures similar to tables (folders) and structures similar to records (items). A large number of fields are contained within Outlook. Some of those fields are available in multiple items and folders, and some are very specific, appearing in only one particular item type.

This appendix lists just about every field available in Outlook. You can see data type, field name, and description for each field.

Use this appendix as a resource when developing your own applications or when simply trying to understand how Outlook works. Table G.1 lists a large number of the fields available in Outlook. Sometimes the field name in Outlook's Field Chooser is different from the actual Outlook Object Model property. Be sure to examine both columns to determine how you should reference your desired field.
