When creating text blocks in Flash, you have two types to choose from. You can add text by simply clicking any point on the stage, or by clicking and dragging to create the text block. The first method will create an auto-sizing block of text that will expand as you type and only go to the next line when you press Enter. The second method will give you a fixed text block that will auto-wrap any text you place inside according to the width of the block you created.
Both methods have their purposes, but at least you'll be able to create either one from the get-go.
