There's a nifty trick in Flash that enables you to use a bitmap as a fill for everything from rectangles to brush strokes. Start by importing a bitmap of any kind, place it on the Stage, break it apart using CTRL-B, and then use the Eyedropper Tool to sample the broken-apart bitmap. You'll notice right away that the fill color in the Toolbar is now a tiny image of the bitmap. Now you can do anything with that fill as you would with any normal fill color or gradient, so have at it!
There is a little catch to this trick. If you remove the bitmap from the Library, then you will lose your special fill. So my advice to you would be...don't.
