Shrinking Sections

The introduction of dockable panels in Flash MX was a great improvement over previous panel designs in Flash. Dockable panels provided much more control over what the user sees and how he or she sees it. Still it wasn't perfect. For instance, you could never get rid of that main column of panels without removing them all or hiding every panel in the program. Neither way was quite right. Flash MX 2004 introduces what can best be described as collapsible sections of the interface. Now you'll notice that the dividing bar between certain areas of the interface (that panel column, for example) has a very thin arrow button. This will look familiar, as it could be seen in the Actions Panel, Debugger, and other parts of Flash MX. Now that it's part of the interface itself, using this button can completely collapse that section of the interface, leaving you with a lot more room and access to other important areas of the program. Nice improvement indeed.
