You'll soon discover that the new components in Flash MX 2004 are extremely powerful. The ones that are built-in alone are super-handy. Take the MediaDisplay component for example. Open your Component panel (CTRL-F7 or CMD-F7) and you'll see the one I'm talking about. Drag it over to your Stage. Select the instance you created, look to the Property inspector, and you'll see a Launch Component Inspector button. Click it, and in the Component Inspector, choose a media type for playback (FLV or MP3) and then enter a URL (the path and filename) to load. Now, all you have to do is publish your movie and make sure that the media file you entered for the URL is in the right place.
When you run the SWF, you'll have a very nice Flash-based media player. You'll have to roll over the basic media bar in the SWF to see all the controls. Not bad, huh? Feel free to play with the other settings to see what else you can do with this cool component.
